I joined Clubhouse in January, and it was AMAZING! I was connecting with other people I never would’ve before. I was growing on IG, converting to clients.. I was able to speak my authority.. BUT – I was also constantly apologizing for my toddler in the background. I’d be trying to talk, and B would need fruit snacks opened, or Goo Goo Ga Ga on the TV – and I’d be saying ‘sorry for the screaming’ on the CH.
But it just kinda smacked my in the face one day, why am I apologizing. If someone in this room doesn’t understand that I’m a mom who’s rocking business too.. then they aren’t my people
.I almost always work with moms in my coaching business.. and when we start clarifying their purpose, and getting deep into WHY – it almost always revolves first, around their kids.
They want to be home with their kids, be able to attend their kid’s events, create special memories for their family.. but almost always the first thing out of their mouth is something about their kids.

So what kind of example am I setting for clients or potential clients, if I am apologizing for my kid. Because being home, being present.. that’s exactly why I wanted to work for myself too…Motherhood is on brand for me. And everything that comes with that. Screaming kids, skinned knees, missing socks, laundry mountains… it is all on brand. It is what connects me to my ideal client – I get it. I have the same things going on as they do. They get me. And I’m proving it can be done, with the right system. And they can do it too.
Maybe you’re there too – where you feel like you need to apologize for a screaming kid in the background, or you feel like you just can’t do it all because… kids. But you don’t.. and you can.
Being a mom has prepared you to run {and run successfully} your own business. You’ve learned how to juggle. And the rest – you can learn. Don’t forget that your brand needs to make you relatable to your ideal client – if you’re a mom and you’re ideal client is a mom… don’t make everything look perfect.
Share the real with them, share how you’re dealing – relate to them. Because motherhood isn’t a weakness. Motherhood is a super power. And Motherhood is on brand.
UNTIL NEXT TIME,
