The Fast Pass + system is one of the greatest offerings that Walt Disney World offers. It is also one of the things that my personal planning clients get the most confused over. Today, I’m answering the questions I get asked the most about Fast Passes and sharing my personal strategies for getting the most out of this system!
Q: When can I book my Fast Passes?
A: If you are staying at a Disney Resort, you can book Fast Passes 60 days in advance. This means, at 6 am 60 days before your check in date you can make Fast Pass reservations for the entirety of your trip. If you are staying off property, you can make Fast Passes with a valid theme park ticket 30 days from the date of visit. This means if you are going to the park 5 days, you will have to make one day of fast passes at a time, 30 days before the day you plan to visit.
Q: How many Fast Passes do I get each day?
A: You can reserve 3 fast passes per day of your ticket ahead of time. Once you are in the park and you have used all three of your prebooked Fast Passes, you can book one at a time from the app or at a Fast Pass kiosk found around the parks.
Q: Can I book Fast Passes for more than one park each day?
A: Your first pre booked 3 Fast Passes must be in the same park. After those have been used, you can book Fast Passes one at a time for a different park IF you have a park hopper ticket.
Q: How does the time for Fast Passes work?
A: You have an hour to use your time Fast Pass, so you will see on your My Disney Experience app example, 11:15 am – 12:15 pm. And you can check in anytime in that hour.
Q: Is there a grace period if I’m late?
A: Yep, they will usually let you check in 5 minutes early or 15 minutes late. If you’ve been at a dining reservation or stuck on another ride they will usually also allow you ride!
Q: The ride I have a Fast Pass for is closed during my window, what happens now?
A: That Fast Pass will automatically turn into a Multiple Experience Fast Pass on your My Disney Experience app. This means you can use this Fast Pass on any attraction, at any time. Premium attractions are usually excluded (meaning Flight of Passage, Toy Story Land, or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train). If it was one of those attractions that you had originally scheduled, of course you can use it later.
Q: What time should I book Fast Passes for?
A: My hard and fast rule is no Fast Passes before noon. If we arrive to the park early, there is usually no problem walking on rides. We save our Fast Passes for busy times of day like afternoon and evening.
Q: What attractions should I use Fast Passes for?
A: My suggestion is to look at the app, if you are seeing that the attraction you are questioning is less than a 45 minute wait in the middle of the day, it most likely won’t need a fast pass.
